Oh, the Joy and Laughter Caused By Duplicate Presents

It was the afternoon of Christmas and all through the house all the creatures were stirring, even the darn Legos.

Okay, I can't do that forever. So here is the rundown Dad asked for the Ghostbuster's Wii game, which many family members eagerly bought for us. So you can imagine my Father's glee when he opened the game and shouted '"It's Ghostbusters!'" He had proclaimed this just when I had unwrapped my present and discovered the game's twin.


Aren't we so pretty? Then can the family game.

So now we are the proud owners of Ghostbusters! Of course if we were going to get one we were going to get a million- a hundred- okay three.

Now I Better Post this Or Else Peter Will Keep Breathing in My Ear!

Okay, I have to get Peter off my back so- you all know how we watched the Phantom of the Opera (I don't know how to underline things on my blog, so if anyone knows please spread your knowledge). Well right after Christine was "forced" to kiss the Phantom Peter made the comment "' Now I really hate that guy.'" Then at the end of the movie he repeated what he had said, my Mom readily replied to '"Be nice to the poor man because it is not his fault he is permanently disfigured."' Now that I have posted this maybe my bother will leave me alone- maybe.

Merry Christmas and I Hope Your House Is Clean!!!!



I am not trying to make you feel guilty if you house is dirty- because our is a bit dirty too! I am just trying to give you hope that it might be clean.

Moving on. So how was everybody's Christmas? I think we might have too much family all on one day. Like I love my family, but if it grows much bigger I might go insane.

Okay. I know all of you are amazed that Peter and I were both able to sit through a two hour twenty-nine minute movie. Where they sing a lot. Emphasis on a lot. Like a lot.

So we got it from Netflix- long story- and we watched it on Christmas Eve. Then again on Christmas day. We really enjoyed it- maybe our mom actually rubbed a love for old movies into us- those this isn't old, but I guess it can be counted as a classic.

I sort of have to go now, but I will really try to blog sooner or later. Truthfully.

I Wonder Where Time Goes?


All right. I have to ask you all a question. Where does time go? Like, literally. For instance, if you spend an hour, where does it go after it has been spent?

Well, I've been wondering that recently. Seeing as I have had, roughly, 378, 432, 000 seconds go by in my life time. In short, now I'm twelve.

And the world is rapidly changing. One of my early- but not so awesome birthday presents was a trip to an ENT doctor. Where I learned that I have something called A-Typical Vertigo. Which pretty much means that I have some problem with my blood flow in my ears and that it makes me dizzy. Now I have exercises to do to make me dizzy while I retrain my body. Great, right? Let me also mention that I had to undergo a series of tests to determine what my other issue is. And no, for all you wondering, that other issue is not my lack of sanity. Just thought I'd set that straight. So that other issue is something with the fancy-pancy name Otalgia. Which means something is up with my ears and the doctors don't know what. I could have told you that- minus the fancy name of course. But I must be a hypocrite and say not to get angry or annoyed with the ENT for not knowing something or forcing you to wait to get an appointment with them. It is not their fault. Thank you.

I usually would have pictures up from my birthday at this point, but I'm going to wait until sometime around, eh, December 5 or 6, when I will report back with a lot more than just some birthday pictures. What am I not telling you, you ask. Well get used to not knowing or come and torture it out of me. Live with it.

I'm Tired of Blogging about my Ears- So I'll do the Brain!


Did any of you know I love brain conditions? Well I do. Have any of you ever heard of synesthesia? No? I thought so. Well, I'll tell you what it is about. It is when your senses sort of "combine". For example, I connect four with the color purple and seven with yellow. That is synesthesia. I find this extremely interesting, mostly because I experience it a bit.

No! I Lied! I Do Have Something the Blog About!


I lied. There is something to blog about.

The new book by Rick Riordan. Seems a bit of the opposite of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, huh. Now instead of helping the gods or whatever, they are fighting them. I hope that this won't feel like all of the other books like this (Fablehaven, 39 Clues). It is odd that now I seem to be reading more books with siblings and less with only children. I don't usually like it, too much fighting and there always seems to be too little friends.

I wish Rick Riordan good luck in meeting my standards. I'll be reviewing my Egyptian mythology, though I know it quite well already.

I Want To Tell You A Story- About Me!!!!


Okay, so I want to tell you a story that started four years ago with my first Activity Day leader, Sister Beal, and her niece, Alyssa. I loved Activity Days, being the new girl and all, and I loved Sister Beal and her daughter. Then she started bringing Alyssa with her. I quickly learned from Alyssa that her sister had cancer. One fateful night, she talked about her sister getting a wig because her hair had fallen out. Something about hearing from a friend that her sister had lost her hair clicked in me. That night I set myself a goal. I wanted to cut my hair for cancer. It took four long years, practically the duration of my time in Activity Days. I had many different leaders, friends, ect. But something never changed. I always remembered Alyssa and Sister Beal.

One Sister Beal's last night teaching Activity Days, (or at least I think that was what it was) I gave her a necklace. So now every time I put on a necklace I remember her.

Back to the story, in May of this year my Mom and I decided that we had to cut my hair because with the length it just kept needing to be cut. But my hair was still too short. In a desperate effort to meet my goal, we looked for another wig cutting program and found Pantene, who only took eight inches of hair. Then after preperations and all that stuff, I cut off 32 inches of my hair for a women with cancer.



Tonight, I had my last Recognition Night for Activity Days. I invited Sister Beal, and I was thrilled to learn that Alyssa and her sister were doing wonderful! She gave me a necklace and earrings that brought tears to my eyes and I love so much. Thank you, Sister Beal!

I can't thank Alyssa and Sister Beal enough for shaping my life in so many ways that changed me completely and put a new lens in front of my eyes so that I could see it in a new way. I love them both so much and hope they are blessed for what they have done.

Thank you Alyssa and Sister Beal. Say "hi" to Alyssa for me Sister Beal.

I'm Feeling Optimistic Today... Which Can NOT Be Good


Okay so you're tired of the long blog post titles. I don't know if I'll work on that one yet or if I'll let you suffer. I just said I felt optimistic, not generous.

So listen, anyone know what month October is? You, in the back with the red and purple shirt. Yes, you're right. Go indulge yourself in a bucket full of cookie dough. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Frankly, I can't think of a much better way to spend a month. Now, a few of you know that I care a bit about cancer- enough to cut my hair for it (totally not bragging)- so I have loved October, what with all the posters with Breast Cancer and even two hot air balloons with the ionic pink ribbon on it. But their was something I read in the magazine Real Simple. It was an article about breast cancer. That you can read here. Now once you have read that go to the bottom and keep clicking on the pictures of women, there should be five. I find this so inspirational. Isn't it wonderful that people can fight for something like this?

Hoping that I was not so optimistic now? Well live with it.

Da, Da, Da, Da, Here Comes the Bride, All Dressed in White...


It is no longer official! Wesley Acton WAS going to marry Laura, but it is now OFF! So here is how it started.

One dark and stormy night, I learned a dreadful thing! Wesley had proposed to Laura and, much to the dismay of all the older siblings, she accepted. They had a date for their wedding and their siblings' deaths. Wesley called her " my Girlfriend Laura", and all of the older kids were preparing their funerals. Then it happened. Laura DUMPED Wesley!!!!!! And we all thought we could live again!

A Meal in Paris (and Some Much Craved REVENGE!)

Okay, so I'm going to be brief because I have much better news. You know how I mentioned a certain show called The Next Food Network Star? Well we ate one of the meals that the winner made and it rocked. To say the very least. So if you just happen to like good food and Paris, go here. We subsituted the cheese for mozerella and it was still good.

Cool Idea (So Listen Up)


Okay, so one of my favorite authors in the whole world (Rick Riordan, sound familiar?) suggested that the readers read an article about children reading what they want in school. I enjoyed reading it and I thought you would too, so look here. It is very good. I, personally, think that children should be aloud to choose their books, after all, when you think about the kids have to do the reading , so shouldn't they be able to read what they want? They say that she let them read Maximum Ride, which everyone should read eventually, because it is AWESOME. Just in case you were wondering.

Catching Fire, (the second book in a series by Suzanne Collins, who wrote the Underland Chronicles (Another one of those books that everyone should read), called the Hunger Games (Check it out)) is coming out in two days (the first). I can't wait, but I'm babysitting that night so Peter and Laura better be good, or else. I would be grateful for those threats about their behavior from anonymous sources. Though they will probably be fine.

That's Child Abuse!!!!!!!


So school is back up and running. With Mom soon stepping in for another teacher part time life has just been a bit chaotic. Like if you took school out of our lives we would still never be home. Now, to the child abuse part. It is the fourth day of school. Now this is actual fact so trust me, my backpack, on the fourth day, weighs as much as Laura. My SIX YEAR OLD SISTER.

So now I quote a friend's mom, 'That's child abuse.' Wisely put, Sister Walker.

So if ANYONE can go and tell this to Ms. Heather, or, even better, send her to this blog so that she could see what is happening, I would be very happy.

And Ms. Heather, if you're reading this, let me tell you. I either love more than is probably good for me, and my back, or I need my head checked for going through this year with you. Hopefully it is the first. So there.
My mom has told me that she also needs her head checked for letting me do this.

Now I want you to know. I will most likely not blog much until Christmas. Assuming, of course, I live that long. Go ahead and call me pessimistic. I will always think I just face the facts in the face.

So I had to make a contract thingy-madjig. Fill in all the blanks and print it so that your kids don't sue me from lack of sleep trying to comfort their parents, as they did to a certain person in New York I hear.

Where to Begin the Chaos...

Okay, so do you remember my most recent post. Yeah, the one with NO pictures. Yep, that's the one. You know how I mentioned a batch of brownies in the, eh, 3 paragraph.


Okay, so I'm ready to reveal the horror story behind these brownies. If you do not have a stomach of titanium, do not read this.

(In spooky voice) It was a bright and sunny morning. And I decided to make brownies with my Aunt Xin. So we were going along and just by chance the recipe right next to it was GRASSHOPPER BARS. (I have to intervene for a second and remind you how everyone except for me and the adults had an obsession over grasshoppers during that week. They also knew that they could be eaten.) So Aunt Xin and I went to work making the brownies. We had decided to make green frosting, the color of grasshoppers. We had a great time, when, a piece of genius. (Gasp) So we went and painted some marshmallows with these letters R,I,and a P. We drew the outline of a grasshopper with green sprinkles on it. I made little red x, eyes and a white frown and a white tear.

Now the true horror, we went and hid the grasshoppers, which, I can tell you, did not win us any love from our victims. Actually it won us some frowns. We would not tell where they were, except that they would get them after dinner. Then they started putting two and two together. Dinner was wolfed down while they talked about how they worried that we had killed them and they would have to eat them.

Dessert came and there was a countdown. 10, 9, 8, 7 ,6, 5 , 4, 3, 2, and it stopped right there. This was followed by fear and Peter slamming a door and crying. It was quite funny because it took a little while to make them eat it. But there was a reason, not to eat them.

Now YOU Try and Sumarize a Week in Blog Post- With NO Pictures


That is my challenge.

As many of you may know, recently yours truly and company went to Ottowa, Kanas, to visit the GRANDPARENTS and meet up with the COUSINS. It was quite an interesting week to say the least.

Now there are two things I want you to know right off the bat, I will not tell you why there are no pictures, (until further notice) or about a certain batch of great -and very dramatic- brownies.

I must say we had a great week. My Grandmother owns some land and all the cousins (coming from cities) had a great time with all the open air. We rode a horse named Babe, like the pig with the singing mice that my mother ADORES. I was great to see everyone and we all had a blast. We went to Worlds/Oceans of Fun and a place called the T-REX Cafe (I suggest you look it up, it's cool). We went a played at and Arcade and went miniature golfing. Now I must pause and elaborate a bit. Peter and Laura love things like arcades and I can have a good time too. Just about every cousin hit a jackpot. We probably cut about 40 trees down. Now have you ever placed miniature golf with 3 adults (me not being counted as one, though I should be, my own mother thought that I was twelve once or twice) and six kids? No one, yeah, I thought so. We did not wait, we did not count how many strokes we took, we did cheat a couple times though.

My mom loves the movie, High Society. Have you seen it. Well we had to bring at least one movie, besides The Princess Bride. I have to tell you about The Princess Bride, before I tell you about High Society. My family loves The Princess Bride, we quote it and everything, so it has become almost a family joke. So we have to bring it on, like, every trip. Now, High Society. High Society is a movie with Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Louis Armstrong that is absolutely hilarious. We watched a ton on the trip. I think you would like it if you saw it.

I have to go, it is way late and I'm up at 7:00 AM!

I Have My Own Room! Ha! Ha!

I have been sharing a room with my younger sister for a while and this week I got my own room. When my Grandmother moved out, (We miss you, Omi) we made her room the study and I moved downstairs. I am really grateful to my mom and dad for helping me move in. 

Today we went on a hike to the Crest. We had a great time and we went with some friends. It was, brace yourself,  48 degrees! Which is just about freezing in New Mexico, and it was windy. 


They had a wonderful view from way high up. We could see Costo from up there.


I can't remember what we were looking at, but it was fun.


We had lunch right by the edge, no one fell off though. There were some people further up. We called to them as loud as we could. We decided their names were Jimmy, Lisa, Michael, and Carl.  



And now I would like you to meet my long-lost cousin: Fred Ingrip Chipmunk!

Happy Day! Happy Day!



!!!!!!!!!!!!!HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



How many of you know of a certain obsession I have with seven books written by someone called J.K. Rowling? If so raise you hand. (I really hope all hands are raised.) 

So the Half-Blood Prince came out today. I think it was well worth the wait and was definitely better than a certain well- known vampire romance movie that came out because the movie was not ready. I did not enjoy the book much. End of sentence. Too many explanations and far too little action. I LOVED the movie. 

So today our parents surprised us by taking us to the movie, while Laura was off with Ba. It was funnier than all the other movies put together. There would be complete silence or a weird expression and the whole theater would burst into laughter. I found this to be odd because the book had struck me as sort of low-key. So to go and see such a funny movie was a bit of a twist. Sure they cut out 400,164,684,765,942,374,896 scenes and made -one, two, three... Okay, let's just say A LOT of mistakes. I have to congratulate them, to transform at 652 page book (I checked) and make it into a 2 and a half hour long movie is a feat.

I Have No Creative Title For this Post


So today we  watched Inkheart. I can't make it any clearer than that. Overall I think it was a pretty good movie and very enjoyable. Though Mom and Peter, who have read the book noticed the mistakes made (which was quite a twist because I am always the one pointing out mistakes). 

We are all having a great summer so far! My aunt, uncle, and cousin are coming soon. YES!

Swimming, Biking, and a Sunburn! Life's Good!


Yesterday, while Laura was home sick, the Actons took us to a swimming party! It was a ton of fun and the water was WARM. We all had a great time. I think one of the best parts was the drive home. We had a great time talking with each other. At one point we were trying to convince Sister Acton to let us stay at a hotel. Later we wanted to take a tour of the US and Canada. We drove over a bridge with holes in it, and after we got off it yelled at passing cars that we had lived. 

Today we went bike riding for TWO WHOLE HOURS in the rain and sun. It was a lot of fun. 

As most of you know I am prone to sunburns. Today I added to my sunburn. Now my skin is RED. Because I can't use a lot of lotions or sunscreens I can't put most things on my skin. So I am enjoying being red. You don't have to pity me, though.

I still don't know the release date. I think it is either October 1st or September 10th.  Let me tell you now before you go banning this book (sorry if you weren't planning to ban the book) just because this is part of a series with the word "skeleton" in its name does not mean it is a ghost story. It is a great book and I suggest that you read it. Though I do suggest you look at my other post or google the book, because it is not you average book...

I LOVE GIRL'S CAMP!!!! And I'm Not Even 12


My Mom went to girl's camp to lead/help/who knows what- the first years. For those of you who do not know what Girl's Camp is, I'll tell. It is a four day camping trip for girls 12 to 18 (I think). Notice I am not twelve until November. So then why do I love this experience? I get to make lost and lots of desserts and we get to eat them. 

I must tell you of a large mistake I made. I was planning to make some cupcakes and a cake. I can't explain it all, but I'll try. The oven was accidentally turned off and only half the cake was baked. The other half was batter. I had pieces of cake and battery crumble. While I was working with the cake the cupcakes sort of burnt. We all liked the treats though. Now you know how desperate we are for desserts.

I have a challenge for you. Read 462 pages in less than one day. I did it. Much to my sleep's dismay, mind you. If you beat that let me know. You'll have bragging rights for forever.

Someone Tell the World: The Sky Is Falling!!!!!!


I practiced piano WITHOUT COMPLAINING for TWO WHOLE WEEKS. This is bad, horrible, chaotic, and just about every horrible thing in the world. I don't like practicing piano. Though I do enjoy learning songs that I enjoy.





Guess what! Guess what! Guess what! Guess what! The fifth season of The Next Food Network Star is on. Just about everyone is very excited. Last year we watched it because one of the contestants, Kelsey Nixon, was LDS. We had a great time, but it is a very suspenseful though. I would suggest watching it.

Summer Has Begun... I'm Sort of Sad

Okay, okay. I know this blog post is late, but you can't blame me completely. I was semi-miserable and I did not have the strength to blog. Woe is me.

Plays, Productions, You Name It (And A Birthday)


Seeing as this was the penultimate week of school everyone did their plays. I am going to be somewhat brief because I am going to leave most of the production news for my mom. You can probably go to her blog some time this week and she will have something up. If she doesn't by Sunday I will spill everything. Peter and Laura did the play Snow White. Laura was a bunny named Buck and Peter was Loper the Deer. I think they had a great time. So that they could forego the kissing at the end of the play, the kids re-wrote the ending, making the prince a football player and the kiss a magic football. I think the kids had a great time singing All Star.

For my class's play we did a play about space written by our student teacher. We also had to write a three minute monologue about an explorer. I chose Sally Ride and had a great time. 

This year I got to see one friend's play that I found absolutely funny. The kids did a great job and I enjoyed myself.


Now I must talk about a different subject. A certain blog post expressed my worries about a certain book called The Last Olympian. I will now report about my worries. I will type the number and answer the question (if I can).

It Is HERE!!!!!!

More correctly: it was (and still is) here. Now if you have been paying attention or have children that have been bugging you, you already know what it is. For all of you who do not know I will tell you.

Feast your eyes on this:

This book came out on May 5th. I enjoyed the book and as I write this I am not exactly because Peter has it. It is a long story and I'll leave it at: Peter will NOT be borrowing another one of my books. If he wants it he will either have to buy it or get it from the library.  

Recognize Me?

For the past couple years I have wanted to donate my hair for a wig for a cancer patient. This year my hair was finally long enough to donate. So on Friday we went to get my hair cut!


The first thing I noticed about my hair after it was cut was how light it seemed after 24 inches had been cut off.

My mom was very surprised by how fast my hair dried and curled.

We blow-dried my hair and we all agreed that and afro was not a good idea.

A Week In A Blog Post


I know I have neglected and ignored you. Seeing as I am aware of this fact I , guess what, decided to blog.

I am going to tell you about our week in BULLET POINTS, just to make it more fun.

  • * Our school tends to do a lot of performances at the end of the
    school year. This year our class is doing a space play.
  • * Currently, our school is in portables. On Thursday
    12 stressed teachers took 200 something half-crazy kids to
    a 3/4 finished school, where many machines were present that
    we could destroy. Everyone had a great time and the school
    looks awesome. Can't wait to go next year.
  • * I passed out of fractions!
    Yeah! On to decimals.
  • * I passed out of CCFWT (Crash Course For Writing Technique)!
  • * Our class started to learn how to orienteer.
  • * I got to spend some time with my best friends. Critical Reframers.
    If you don't know what these are go and find someone at
    Family School to tell you, because I'm not going to.
    (This whole bullet point should be read with very heavy sarcasim.
  • * I spent SEVEN HOURS on homework on Saturday.
  • * We went to the zoo with some friends on Friday.
    Peter and Laura have some friends in their class that we went
    to the zoo with them (I also happen to have one of their
    siblings in my class). We also took our piano teacher's son
    with us. So, in total, there were nine kids and three parents.
    I have to admit it. It was very successful with very little fighting.
  • * We had the missionaries over for dinner.
    We have three great missionaries. There were plenty of
    laughs, and one of our missionaries played piano for us.

I have a couple other things to say. One, for a couple of years I have wanted to donate my hair for a wig for a cancer victim, my mom and I have looked for a place where I can cut my hair. And I can't wait because my hair is finally ready. Soon I will have very short hair.

The second thing I want to tell you was a song. In our play someone sings this:

Our class loves this song, mainly because the person you sings it is so funny. We have pretty much already memorized it. We were singing it on the way to the new school.

One other thing I just remembered something else that I did this week. I blogged!

Spring Break

I don't really know what to blog about. Over spring break we didn't do much, due to behavior issues (Peter and Laura) so there is nothing to write about. We did inquiry. We read. Peter had soccer. We were ready to pull our hair out. What's new. In short, it was average and fun.

Topper

You're Tired of These Posts


I'm going to do another post about books. 

The big book this post is...

 

Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman and one of the best books  I have ever read. Just as good as Harry Potter. Gasp.  We all know that I love Harry Potter. 

Plot: Two friends have been forbidden to see each other, but a mystery holds them together. The mystery might just kill both of the friends.  Includes: ghost and possible terror.

Media: This story is told two ways- through the journal of one friend and the videos of another. The videos are the scariest part of the book for sure, but Peter can watch them so they must not be that bad. 

I loved this book. I read it and watched the videos and can't wait for the second one to come out later on this year. Patrick Carman can make a cliffhanger still be satisfactory in the most amazing way. I wanted the second, but I didn't drive my parents more insane.

Surprise! Pictures Part


Now this is the picture version of our first three days at Florida. NOTE: You better enjoy every second of this because I did it TWICE.  Since I did this twice and since it's long and since one person didn't get to enjoy the majority of this trip I thought that this blog post should be for that person. To get to Disney World early we had to wake up at seven after going to bed at like TEN. So yeah welcome to our life.

I wrote in BIG handwriting (for all you classmates and teachers that might be reading this and know about my tiny writing.) proclaiming the birthday girl's birthday.

To calm my brother's fears of the Haunted Mansion  we began to discuss It's a Small World. Peter asked what that was, my father responded " It's a ride scarier than the Haunted Mansion where all these demented people sing about how happy the world is." For all those lovers of It's a Small World no offense, he was just trying to make Peter feel better.

We went on the Jungle Cruise where you are led along on a boat though Africa. 

Our guide was wonderful. She was funny and made tons of interaction. She offered to let Kyle and Laura drive the boat through a cave while she kept her eyes closed.

I feared for our lives when Laura got a hold of the wheel.

How many of you are familar with my Pinochio story. Well I had to play the Blue Fairy last year and let's just say  it's still a sore spot. A the beginning of the day I said I would run away from anything that had to do with that puppet. My hunger over came me. We ate at the Pinocchio resturant that night.

Did you know that Sleeping Beauty's castle changes color. Sorry for the poor picture.

We missed the 10:30 bus home so we had to wait for the 11:00 one. Peter was like this when it got there.

Funny story I learned later on: We sent flowers to my grandmother in the hospital. While we were in Disney World he told the sale guy or whoever to give them to Nancy Macmickey. Instead of Machnicki. See we're Disney fanatics. 

FYI: The Pirates of the Caribeian ride is not as good as it sounds.
