Guess What? Guess What? I Finished Mockingjay!

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO READ THIS BOOK AND HASN'T READ IT YET! I don't think I know anyone in this group though, besides my mom...

To put my thoughts on the book into a very short sentence... It sort of stunk.

I was really bummed. Really, really, really, really bummed. But it's better now that I'm re-reading it. When I first read it I was so messed up- doing lots of homework and being tired can do that to you, who would've guessed? I was really expecting a lot of drama when rebelled, but all of the drama was emotional and mental.

I just decided I'm not going to continue the above paragraph, because, if I do, it will become a mess of, well, a lot of nonsense- which is good, put you probably don't want it.

Instead I will tell you why DUCKS ARE CANNIBALS!!!!

Duck are cannibals because in a book I read, they gave a duck a duck dish... AND THE DUCK ATE IT!

DUCKS ARE CANNIBALS! BEWARE THE DUCKS!

DUCKS ARE CANNIBALS!!!!!!!

Just thought you should know.

Mockingjay is Here, Mockingjay is Here, Mockingjay WAS Here Four Days Ago...

...And I still haven't finished it, even though I got it on the day it came out. How sad is that?

Okay, so here is the explanation of why I haven't finished the book yet, if your in a mood where you think everything is an excuse- please don't read any further. Drum roll, please! My amazing excuse, ummm I mean REASON, is that... I have finally found a book that might actually be to sad and depressing from me. Which is bad.

I love the book, I really do, but it's been so different from the other one. It's been darker and some- most- of my favorite characters are dead or insane. Problem! It also has less humor and the main character who used to have more fight in her than the rest of the characters put together, sort of lets go for the first 150 pages of the book. I starts picking up as soon as a certain mentor appears, then. I have been enjoying it more now and I'm liking how much we get to see some of the relationships that we have only heard about. It's really awesome to see the interactions between a certain pair of boys who happen to make me laugh quite a bit.

My biggest problem about the book: the lack of anything happy. I know I should have expected this. I should have seen it coming from the first book. But this book is really one of the only books were my heart has dropped and I've felt like there was no way any of the characters could win. I guess, deep down, I was sort of hoping for something of a happy ending, if that happens here Katniss is going to have to wake up and realize that the whole series was a dream. Ya, it's that possible. I also feel bad because when there are those little bits of relief they are short and they end very brutally. The longest happy moment was probably 2 or 3 pages and the ending wasn't even really bad. Which is like really long to all the other half a page ones that end with someone dying in a horrible nightmarish way.

So now I have to finish the book.

P.S. Ignore all mistakes. This was written very quickly.

Bored, Bored, Bored, Bored, Bored...

And I wasn't feeling that well today. But I'm still bored. So I'm going to keep on typing and hope that this gets some where.

Which it didn't.

A Word From the Wise to the, Um, Wiser- Which is You Guys...

... Flattery works miracles doesn't it?

Now for that wisdom from the local genius and wisdom- giver- ME! Don't wake 10:30 and get out of your room at 11:30 and then eat brunch and then not eat anything else. Every thing before the ' and not eat anything else' is fine, but I think our bodies need more sugar than that. Just an idea.

Can I rant? Thank you for saying yes.

I want this book! Really bad! But I still have to wait until the 24th of this month. Usually I would tell you how many days away that is, but I spent all my energy trying to get this STINKIN' PICTURE TO UPLOAD and I'm sorta low and blood sugar! So you can be grateful that I came and blogged any way! (I obviously have enough energy to go into hysterics and act like a madwoman. Who would have guess?)The Hunger Games is really good series for people who have a a morbid and desensitized imagination- like me. People who are actually SANE can read it too, though. I really like it and want the book now.

Okay, I'm going to end this, because my head is starting to do that back and forth thing and I'm writing sort of funny- which is a red alert for low blood sugar. If I pass out things would get bad. SOOOOOOO...

Oh, The Dinner Conversations That Our Family Has...

Here's how it all began!

1. Me making the comment that I had found a piece of genius that said 'I'm not littering, I'm donating to the Earth!'

2. Which was then followed by Peter wondering if he could make a tee- shirt that said 'Hey, I'm walking litter!' and had fake pieces of litter on.

3. I then mentioned that you could make custom tee- shirts.

4. Which made me think of the whole 'Team insert- name- of- boy- here" shirts and how they, despite their publicity are actually hard to find.

5. At which point, Peter and I started talking about how we had only found two places that sold 'Team Edward/ Jacob' shirts: Borders and a little store in San Fransisco.

6. Then we started talking about how I had told dad that if he bought me a 'Team Edward' shirt he would have to buy me a Sharpie so that I could write 'DEAD' over Edward. (My mom mentioned that I could also just write a D in front of Edward)

7. Peter and I then began planning all of the possible ways to show our displeasure with the Twilight obsession through shirts with a dead Edward in some form. I will not disclose them for fear of the editor hunting me down to kill me.

8. Which was followed by a rant about how the guy who plays Jacob really DOES look like a wolf and a shark, even without make-up. I'm sorry, Rylee- but it's true. Look at the cast of the movie ' Shark- Boy and Lava- Girl" to get the shark part.

9. This was then accompanied by the comment about a commercial showing the name of Jacob Black name carved in wood.

10. This was followed by the rational idea that there might actually be someone with the name of Jacob Black.

11. And then our hearts went out to all of the people with the names of Bella- or Isabella- Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black.

12. We also made a comment about how is was sort of odd that the name Edward hadn't made the top ten names of the year.

13. We then rationalized that it was because Edward sounded way old and the Jacob, while not flooding with moderness, at least had the nice nick- name 'Jake'.

14. Then my mother commented that Edward was stuck with the nick- name 'Ed'. Which, if you ask me is one of the saddest nick-names in the world. Sorry if you love the nick-name 'Ed.'

And somewhere along there multiple pieces of genius were shared- including ' I now have proof that Voldemort is evil, he turned Cedric Diggory into Edward Cullen' and we realized Peter needs help pronouncing the name 'Cullen'.

How's that for random?

I Am Bored for No Apparent Reason and I Don't Want to Practice Piano,

Or clean up,

Or pack for Girl's Camp- which is Wednesday,
Or work on Personal Progress,

Or read the other half of Uglies for Tuesday,

Or help with dinner,

Or play with my siblings,

Or read my scriptures,

Or do my dinner chore,

Or vacuum,

Or work on my math,

Or...um... whatever you're thinking of telling me to do.

I'll tell you some awesome quotes? Thank you for obliging me.

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe."

-Albert Einstein

"I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying."

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square hole. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

"Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much."

Oscar Wilde (I always knew we were supposed to forgive our enemies, but this is a really good reason.)

"Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow."

"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read."

"A day without sunshine is like, you know, night."

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye. (as said by Miss Piggy)"
Jim Henson

And my favorite-

"Whenever I feel the need to exercise, I lie down until it goes away."

"To Be Or Not to Be, That is the Question" and APPARENTLY There is No Answer Like the Question Suggests There Is...

... Because usually questions have answers. Just a general observation. I'm hyper!

Did you know that I really like Shakespeare- especially Hamlet- and have been reading it since somewhere around 3/4th grade? Yeah, I know barely any of you knew that. I might share my secret with you soon- maybe. But my most recent Shakespearean interest? Of course you do. Have any of you ever heard of the graphic novel called Kill Shakespeare- I know that's supposed to be underlined but I don't know how? Well, it's an awesome idea. Hamlet has been sent to England to be killed, remember, when the ship is attacked. Hamlet meets Richard the Third. And they realize that they, along with some of Shakespeare's other characters, need to get rid of Shakespeare or at least his quill, because they're a little fed up with the Bard controlling their lives.

How do you like that idea?

We Are Many Things, But Sane is Not One of Them

I will not bore you with all the things we actually are. Wait, no, that's a lie. I need a morale boost. Which I usually don't because I have learned to feed off of my own opinion of myself- if I didn't my self-esteem would be zero (there is a lack of compliments here).

We are- now this list is specified towards Solis and Acton kids here:

Awesome
Funny
Creative
Wacky
Fun
Happy
Weird
Strong
Different- in the good way, not always though
Joyful
Imaginative
Naive
Wonderful
Close- to each other
Family
Former/ present Family School students- so we can work hard
Loved
Carefree
Readers
Players- we play imagination games together, an art that seems lost once you hit 6 now
Forgetful- which can be good
Laughing
Ready to take over the world tomorrow so that we can make more movies and get that tenth Artemis Fowl book- Right, Mitchell?

There my self- esteem is once again through the roof, and I didn't even have to talk to myself (my usual form of boosting my self-esteem, don't tell anyone though... I can't go to the asylum!)

Never Mind, Maybe I Won't Post This...

I AM INSANE, AND RANDOM, AND CRAZY, AND HAPPY, AND WIERD, AND this might be a bad idea for a post...

Here's A Little Thing I Want to Tell You About that Book You Have Heard About Once...

...Or twice, or three, (or- you know- every step you take) times. So You know that world- wide phenomenon with a vampire and a werewolf and a girl. Yeah, that one.

Well apparently, Barbie dolls wanted to jump on the band wagon.

These are Barbie Dolls for that book that is aimed at young adults girls, you know, 14 years and up. Do you know the age group for Barbie Dolls? Yes, 6- year- olds, not their sister who happens to be 6 years older.

And what, may I ask, is up with one of the guys not wearing a shirt? Really people... Think of all those poor damaged 6-year-old girls who won't be able to truly love a guy unless he glitters in the sun or has to run around without a shirt half the time. No, really.

I just thought that I should bring this very important and urgent matter to you intention. Thank you and good night.

This is Just Another Note to Let You Know I'm Alive... And I Have a Little Note!

Hi!

How are all of you doing? I'm doing pretty good- you know doing seven specialists in fourteen days- stuff like that. I just wanted you all to know that all of the kids are doing plays! It's fun.

Have a great summer- it is coming up, you know. I might blog more later, I don't know.

I Thought I Should Let You All Know that I Am Still Alive and Breathing, If I am Sane is Purely Your Opinion

Long title, huh? I love long titles, but you know what I love more than long titles? The idea that one day, one great day, some author or something will come to ABQ that is not LDS (aka- not Brandon Mull, he was great though!)! Have you guys ever noticed that everything happens in New York City, the place I am slowly trying to make my parents take me to, even though they still like the idea of London- which I like too, don't get me wrong, but New York City is New York City.

FANG IS NOW OUT! AND IT ROCKED AND STUNK AT THE SAME TIME! AMAZING! AND I HAVE TO GO AND HUNT JAMES PATTERSON DOWN AFTER THIS SO YOU BETTER BE GRATEFUL THAT I AM TAKING THE TIME TO TYPE THIS WHEN I SHOULD BE HITCHING A RIDE TO FLORIDA AND FINDING A PHONE BOOK SO THAT JAMES PATTERSON WILL LEARN HIS LESSON (AND I CAN GIVE HIM A HUG FOR PUBLISHING 3 BOOKS A YEAR FOR KIDS MY AGE- THREE). And yes, that was all supposed to be in caps.

Different yet slightly related topic. Did you know that for some award the finalists for best book that I have read are Catching Fire and City of Glass so I know 2 of the 5 books. And for the best author I have read MAX by James Patterson, The Last Olympian (obviously) by Rick Riordan, and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins- three out of five! How awesome is that?

So I am alive, I believe that the above paragraph has proved to you that I have lost some sanity, but still have more than four brain cells- which is really good because I still have the giant state test that isn't really that hard for me, or half the people that I know at school, but we still like to pretend that we have to think! Oh, yeah! I went to California. Maybe I'll talk about that later.

-Emily

P.S. How do you like that mention about California? Did it make it sound like I didn't care about it at all?

It's that Time of Year Where The Family Schoolers Question Their Supposed Sanity

I fear the time of year after Winter Break. Why, you ask? Because it is at that time where we are usually doing three or four GIANT projects in about two months. Pure torture. No. It's school.

Don't believe me? As of last week we were working on:

Inquiry Two
Inquiry Three
Writing Project
Self Assessment

Along with our regular homework.

Do any Family Schoolers possess sanity? Your call...

I Am Losing It!

I spent pretty much all of today dizzy while doing probably about six hours of homework. Does anyone see any problem with that besides me and my parents? Good, I am glad that you all had the sense to agree with me. I am looking forward to going to bed (possibly, I took a small nap today, so we will have to see how that affects me) and not having to do anymore homework right now. These are the days where I would love to leave Family School. Those days were I am near a breakdown and I can't stop doing homework because of how intense our school is. I think most kids feel this way about school sooner or later, and I can tell them, when you have weeks were you are doing 20+ hours (all you Family School people are wincing and remembering all of those weeks where that happened to you...) you begin to think that college might actually be easier than this (though your parents tell you that you are wrong.)

Sorry I just had to rant.

(Now I know that you are all thinking, why didn't you do more homework yesterday? Because I actually wanted to remember what it felt like to not do fourteen million hours of homework in one day. Does that make sense to you?)

Let's See How that Bet Turned Out, Shall We...

The bet did not work. After about one day, the kids were risking their lives and we were in complete and utter terror at all times. But we still went to the movie today! THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was as awesome as it could have been. I won't rant about anything because I would bore you all to death, instead I will say that it was a great movie and I suggest seeing some time (okay, let me rephrase that, see it if your kids want to see it). We all had a blast and it was pretty darn funny.

Enjoy the Olympics!

A Week of OLYMPIC Standards, and Mom and Dad Lost a Bet To the Three Kids

Two things, this week the Winter Olympics started (I think you all knew that... right?), which was a big thing for our family. We have all been looking forward to it and our enjoying ourselves a ton.

Second thing... and it is a BIG thing. Yip, yip, yeah. Mom and Dad are taking us to see the Lightning Thief on Monday because they lost a bet to us kids. Okay, let me tell you something. Mom and Dad might not actually take us because they are quite unhappy about losing the bet (if Dad couldn't put on our new screen door right, they had to take us all to the movies on Monday). They should keep their integrity and take us, but, honestly, I wouldn't bet much on it though (nice pun, right?).

I will let you all know on Monday if that actually, like, take us to the movie. Hopefully they will... or else.

Vote For Me and I Will Grace You All With My Blogger Presence

My mom showed me this today.

This is the picture for the school bond election. Do you recognize anyone. In the front is Gabby (1st grade), the adult in the back (I don't know what to call her- but adult seemed to fit) is Ms. Heather who is my teacher again this year. The two girls in the back who have the same shirt are Evia and Katia ( 3rd grade) and the pretty girl next to them is moi (2nd grade)! Aren't we just the most awesome group of girls? I even want to vote!

See you all!

I Needed Something to Blog About- Because I Am SOOOOOOOOOOO Bored!

So when I'm bored what do I blog about- my upcoming death, of course! Or more correctly this movie!

Those turned out a lot smaller than I thought it would, but I'm too lazy to find a new one... so- in case you can't read what this is (prepare yourself)-it is the Lightning Thief movie. (Boy, that was a complex sentence!)

Now I have to post this because I feel like it, so go here for the movie trailer. At the present moment I am trying to force myself to want to see the movie. (Maybe I can convince the parents to get it from Redbox and let us have some friends over to see it.) I must say I am doing pretty well, I haven't jumped up and run out of the house yet!

By the way, Shelby Acton had her first dance lesson and I wanted to congratulate her. I'm too lazy to just leave a comment! Good job, Shelby!

See you all,

-Emily: Who Will Soon Rule the World
